Debra Applebee

Debra JoAnn (Smith) Applebee, age 67, passed away on Tuesday February 11, 2025 surrounded by her family at UPMC Hamot in Erie, PA. She was born on April 21, 1957 to the late John and Shirley (Stafford) Smith. She married Roy P. Applebee on October 8, 1977. He survives.
Debra was a 1975 graduate of Cambridge Springs High School. After high school she was a chef at Edinboro University until 1992 when she started her career at Cambridge Springs Correctional Institution as a food service supervisor and later the head of the kitchen. She retired from the prison in 2016 after 25 years of service.
In her spare time, Debra enjoyed coloring, crocheting, cooking and spending time with her family. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was named Crawford County Homemaker of the Year in 2006.
In addition to her beloved husband, Roy, she is survived by her children, Shannon Rodgers and her husband, Shawn of Venus, PA and Jimmy Applebee of Meadville, PA; three sisters, Lori McLean and her husband, Mike of OH, Kellie Schroat and her husband, Jim of Venango, PA and Jodi McLaughlin and her husband, John of Edinboro, PA; brothers-in-law, Randy Felton of Cambridge Springs, PA and Bill Applebee of Harborcreek, PA; her grandchildren, Madison Weidner, Walker Willey, Morgan Applebee, Alayna Rodgers and Rylynn Applebee; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Jay Felton, Randi Felton, Kayla Terrill, Chance Terrill, Dustin Schroat, Jordan Schroat, Dakota Schroat, Lukie Ebright, Jake Ebright, Josh Ebright and Emma McLaughlin and thirteen great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Debra was preceded in death by her grandmother, Veneva Stafford and her sister, Bonnie Felton.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
