Debra R. Corey, 59, Sidney, died peacefully on Monday, June 9, 2025, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta, Maine. She was born in Waterville, Maine, on November 21, 1965, the daughter of George M. Corey, and Phyllis A. Corey.
Debra graduated from Messalonskee High School in 1984, receiving an award for being the highest ranking girl in science and mathematics in her graduating class. Upon graduating, she chose to work with her father on the family dairy farm until 1996, when the cows and equipment were auctioned and the land was sold. Debra continued to work on neighboring farms in Sidney, eventually working for At Work and then Northeast Safety as a flagger, directing traffic for work crews from Jackman to Rockland to Rangeley, until January of this year.
Debra was pre-deceased by her father, George M. Corey. She is survived by her mother, Phyllis Corey, and her sister, Louise Erskine, and brother-in-law, Michael Erskine, of Sidney. She is also survived by her nephews, Jacob Erskine, of Bangor, Ryan Erskine and Mikayla Charters, and grandnephew, Callahan Erskine, of Farmingdale. She is also survived by her aunt, Roberta Brown and husband, Fremont Brown, of Terryville, Connecticut, as well as many cousins.
At Debra's request there will be no service. In Debra's memory, donations may be made payable to the "Town of Sidney" for the Sidney Scholarship Fund in memory of Debra R. Corey, and mailed to the Sidney Town Office, 2986 Middle Road, Sidney, ME 04330. The family would like to extend special thanks to the nurses and doctors at MaineGeneral Medical Center for the care provided and kindness shown to Debra R. Corey.
