Debra Jeanne “Burke” Hooper, 66, of Havelock, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at Carolina East Medical Center.
Debra’s Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Munden Funeral Home in Havelock. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Debra was born on October 16, 1959, in Newark, New Jersey, to the late Francis and Patricia Burke. She was a devoted and loving wife of 33 years to her husband, William. A wonderful mother and a cherished grandmother, her family was the center of her life, and she took great pride in each of them. Debra enjoyed camping trips, bowling, and spending time gardening, where she lovingly tended her plants.
One of her favorite hobbies was decorating her yard with butterflies and her angels. Debra had a special place in her heart for her dogs, who were her constant companions and brought her much happiness.
Debra worked faithfully as the office manager at Cherry Point for many years before retiring, a role in which she was respected for her dedication, organization, and kindness. Debra’s love, warmth, and gentle spirit will be missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Those left to treasure her memory are her loving husband, William Perry Craft Hooper of the home; daughter, Sara Nicole Hooper (Kevin Murray Jr.) of Hubert, NC; sons, James Joseph Oakley Jr. (Rebecca) of Lancaster, SC, Christopher Michael Oakley (Angela) of Dillsburg, PA, David Frank Oakley (Amanda-Jo) of Jermyn, PA, and William Perry Craft Hooper II of Monroe, NC; sisters, Tracey Lynne Fuller (Willie) of McKees, PA, Kimberly Burke of Dalton, PA, Susan James (Geno) of Jessup, PA, and Denise Burke of McKees, PA; brother, Francis Burke Jr. (Stephanie) of Parrish, FL; grandchildren, Makaylah Oakley, Gavin Oakley, James Oakley III, Brenden Oakley, Josylan Oakley, Nathan Vail Oakley, Noah Oakley, Niko Oakley, Caden Oakley, Alex Oakley, Kiven Murray, Kamdyn Murray; and her sweet dogs, Ivy, Willow, and Gypsy.
