Debra Ann Howes, aged 63 of Greenwood, IN, entered into eternal rest on August 17, 2025. Born on September 30, 1961, Debra spent her childhood in both Arizona and her proud Hoosier State of Indiana. She often visited family in Kentucky and took pride in what her family achieved as coal miners. Debra loved sports such as basketball and football. Both the Pacers and the Kansas City Chiefs were her favorite. Debra pursued a career in law enforcement and took a proud post as deputy Chief at the Owen County Jail. After locating with her husband and daughter to Greenwood, IN, she accepted a job with the Johnson County Animal Control. When Debra had her second daughter, she devoted her life to being a stay at home mom to give her daughters the best possible life and relationship together. Debra found joy in being a mother and through the years blessed many others. Debra both had a heart for others and animals; from her cows and dogs from her Gosport, IN farm to her cats that were always by her side.
Debra is survived by two daughters, Raeann M. Howes and Kendra R. Howes. She is also survived by her brother, William Pence, and four granddaughters. Debra's family and friends are welcome to attend a graveside service on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at 2:00PM at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood, IN. This will be her final resting place next to her beloved husband, Ronald S. Howes. Though she is no longer with us, Debra will be remembered for her strength and perseverance. Her spirit lives on in many hearts. We find comfort that Debra is no longer in pain and has been reunited with Jesus, the Lord and Savior. 2 Corinthians 5:8, "we are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord".
