LaVale, MD – Debra "Debbie" Elenora (Shook) Lechliter, 65, of LaVale, MD, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Sterling Care Assisted Living, after losing her battle to Glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.
Born April 12, 1959, in Cumberland, MD, Mrs. Lechliter was the daughter of the late Neil and Charlotte Shook. She was also preceded in death by her husband: Ronald Lechliter.
Debra graduated from Allegany High School, was Methodist by faith, and was a former employee of Walmart. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, going to the beach, and sitting outside with her flowers.
Debra is survived by her sister: Tammy Crabtree and fiancé, Kevin Williams; her brothers: Charles Shook, and Rick Shook and significant other, Donna; her daughters: Shaun Ansel and husband, Mike; and Brittney McKenzie and husband, Cody; her son: Richard Hite and wife, Kimberly; her step-daughters: Brandy Mason and husband, Carl; and Dawn Funk and husband, Rich; as well as 14 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Lincoln Shook officiating.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
The pallbearers will be: Tavyn Ansel, Landyn Ansel, Mike Ansel, Cody McKenzie, Rick Shook, and Kevin Williams.
The honorary pallbearers will be: Dallas Scell, and Dakotah Remley.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and doctors at UPMC and the Cancer Center, especially Dr. Zaman, as well as the staff at Sterling Care Assisted Living, and Hospice for all their exceptional care.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the funeral home to offset expenses.
