LaVale, MD- Ronald "Ron" James Lechliter, 80, of LaVale, MD passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023 at UPMC-Western Maryland.
Born July 22, 1942, in Cumberland, MD, Mr. Lechliter was the son of the late Robert and Edith Lechliter. He was also preceded in death by his sister: Shirley Peters; and his twin-sister: Ruth Wood; and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Ron graduated from Fort Hill High School, was Methodist by faith, and was a former employee of the Cumberland Times-News. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Orioles Fan. He loved spending time with his wife and grandchildren and going on trips.
Ron is survived by his wife of 26 years, Debbie Lechliter; two daughters: Brandy Mason and husband Carl; and Dawn Funk and husband Rich; two step-daughters: Brittney McKenzie and husband Cody; and Shaun Ansel and husband Mike; a step-son: Richard Hite and wife Kim; and 14 grandchildren: Dallas Scell, Dakotah Remley, Eli McKenzie, Madilyn McKenzie, Tavyn Ansel, Averi Ansel, Landyn Ansel, Kylie Cook, Cayden Hite, Baylie Hite, Amanda Plume, Tyler Funk, Dalton Funk, and Carter Funk.
Friends will be received at Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD (www.adamsfamilyfuneralhome.com) on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
A memorial service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. with Nephew Lincoln Shook officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the funeral home to offset expenses.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the nurses and doctors at UPMC-High Level Car, along with Dr. Koor, Dr. Khandare, Dr. Parousis, and the Cancer Center for all the exceptional care.
