Debra Lynn Maxa, of Chesaning, died peacefully on January 20, 2025, at Chesaning Comfort Care, after a short illness.
Deb was born on March 1, 1952 in Saginaw, Michigan, to Stewart Walker and Helen (Lafleur) Walker. She graduated from Chesaning Union High School in 1970, and shortly after, married her husband, Edward Maxa on October 10, 1970. Together they had four sons, Jason, Jarod "Gus", Nicholas, and Justin.
Deb was a loving homemaker for most of her life, raising her and Ed's four sons. She enjoyed gardening, crafting, and window shopping. She was an avid plant lady, and was known for her "two green thumbs". She was a loyal member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albee, and participated in taking the eucharists to nursing homes on Sunday after mass, for the homebound members. She especially loved tending to her grandchildren, who had a special place in her heart.
Deb is survived by her husband of 54 years, Ed Maxa; children, Jason (Graceson) Maxa, Jarod "Gus" (Trisha) Maxa, Nicholas (Arynn) Maxa, Justin (Sarah) Maxa; grandchildren, Hudson Maxa, Luke Maxa, Bryson Maxa, Layton Maxa, Lincoln Maxa, Finn Maxa, Jayden Maxa, Austin Hunt, and another baby boy on the way; siblings, Annette "Jo" (Barry) Meiser, Rod (Sue) Walker, RoseMary (Mark) Szappan, Margaret (Gary) Spegel, Jon (Susie) Walker, and Jeremy (Kara) Walker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stewart and Helen Walker; siblings, Angela Walker and Robert Walker.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 2:00pm until 7:00pm with a Rosary at 6:30pm, at McGeehan Funeral Home - Martin Chapel, 316 W. Broad St., Chesaning. A funeral mass will take place on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Albee Township at 11:00am with visitation starting at 10:00am until the time of mass. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Albee.
Memorial donations can be made to the wishes of the family, in honor of Deb.
