Debra "Debbie" D. Monroe, age 71, of Colby, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, April 20, 2025 under the tender care of Hope Hospice.
A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 2 at Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford. The Rev. Teri Hanson will officiate. Family and friends are welcome from 3:00 p.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home. The Maurina- Schilling Funeral Home of Abbotsford is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
Debbie was born on July 31, 1953, the daughter of Stanley and Delores (Waggoner) Hesgard. She graduated from Colby High School. In 1972, Debbie married David Hoernke and from that union they welcomed three sons, Darrin, Derrick and Damien. They later divorced.
In 1984, Debbie and Bob Wittkamp were gifted the joy of a daughter, Allison Jean. Allison preceded Debbie in death in a car accident in 2007. Even though their time together was short, their mother-daughter relationship was treasured.
Debbie married Bob Monroe in 1991 and together they successfully owned and treasured the Redwood Supper Club, which was a staple and iconic Supper Club that was enjoyed by many in the surrounding communities. There was nothing she liked more than to enjoy the company of her customers, who were also her friends and family. She knew everyone's names and drink of choice without flaw. She was well known for her love of music and many nights you could catch her singing her favorite songs for all to enjoy.
Eventually Bob and Debbie moved to Hayward, but after time the restaurant business and all the people Debbie loved brought her and Bob back to Abbotsford to begin a new business adventure. Together they opened Allison's Steakhouse and she served her customers with no delay, like she never left. When the restaurant closed, Bob and Deb separated and she moved to Marshfield where she managed, with extreme passion, the Elks Lodge. She succeeded with her passion of people food and great drinks.
She spent her final years enjoying the company of her special friend, Bob Hartl. They had an amazing bond and they truly understood one another. In her spare time she enjoyed fishing, playing cribbage, cooking, baking, and seeing her grandchildren and PEOPLE. She loved everyone and everyone loved her.
Debbie is survived by her three sons: Darrin (Lisa) of Colby, Derrick (Jennifer) of Amherst and Damien (Nicole) of Lake Hallie; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; two brothers: Lonny (Debbie) Hesgard, Randy (Laurie) Hesgard; two sisters: Cindy (Mike) Epping, Vicki (Warren) Burgett.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Allison and her sister Becky Cieslewicz.
