Chesapeake - Debra Jean Newhart, a cherished resident of Chesapeake, VA, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025, at the age of 68 in her birthplace of Norfolk, VA. Born on September 1, 1956, in Norfolk, Debra lived a life marked by dedication and kindness.
She spent her career serving as a Patroller at Elizabeth River Crossings, where her commitment to her work was evident to all who knew her. Her gentle spirit and unwavering dedication to her duties left a lasting impression on her colleagues and the community she served.
Debra was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Leonard and Jean (Wallace) Newhart. She is survived by her dear brother, Paul Newhart, and sister-in-law, Mary Newhart, along with many other family members and friends who grieve her loss.
Though she has left this world, Debra's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her absence will be deeply felt by everyone whose lives she touched with her warmth and compassion.
