Debra Lee Peniston (Restivo) was born on December 22, 1953 in Newark, NJ and passed away on March 30, 2025 at her home in Denville where she was a long time resident, surrounded by her family.
Debra grew up in Bloomfield where she and John were high school sweethearts, wed on October 27, 1979 and moved to Denville in 1981. They were married for 40 years at the time of John's passing in 2020. Debra worked for Ma Bell which later became Bell Atlantic and then Verizon for 30 years and following her retirement she worked for The Borough of Mountain Lakes and retired in 2023. Debra loved the beach, gardening, reading, crafting, traveling with her husband, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and friends.
Debra is survived by her loving children; daughter Kate Morris (Peniston) and her husband Lewis, son Michael Peniston and his wife Cristina, three cherished grandchildren, Logan and Jacob Morris and Benjamin Peniston, her brothers Vincent Restivo and his wife Gen, Larry Restivo and his wife Pat, and many dear nieces, nephews, in laws, extended family and friends so close they became family. Debra was predeceased by her husband, John F. Peniston III, and her mother and father, Sam and Evadine Restivo.
Visitation will be held for family and friends at Tuttle Funeral Home, Randolph (Tuttlefh.com) on Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 12-4pm. A Funeral Service will take place in the Mausoleum at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Avenue East Hanover, NJ 07936 on Friday, April 11, 2025 at 12:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Debra's name to the Crohns & Colitis Foundation.
