Debra Schultz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Directors - Midland Chapel on Jan. 5, 2026.
Debra K. Schultz, beloved daughter and sister, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 19, 2025, at 70 years of age.
She is survived by her siblings Carolyn, Elizabeth and Robert; several nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by two siblings, Beverly and Richard, as well as her parents.
Deb was a woman of strong faith. She was active in her local church. She had a thirst for knowledge which included not only her formal education to the level of a Master's degree, but also things like cooking, art, and crafts. She frequently looked up things on the internet to learn more on a variety of topics. She held several jobs in her lifetime, primarily in an administrative or consulting capacity.
For over 40 years Deb was involved in the Special Olympics program. She served as a volunteer, coach and board member. In 1999 she was named Michigan's Special Olympic Coach of the Year. In 2005 she was named Special Olympics North America Coach of the Year. In 2008 she was inducted into the Specials Olympics Hall of Fame for Area 30, Central Region.
Deb loved to travel. She took many trips with her Schultz family as well as with her Special Olympics family. She either coached or led delegations to Special Olympics World Games in Alaska, Japan, China and Greece.
In a nutshell, Deb was well-educated and well-traveled. She loved life and had many friends. She thought of others first. She will be missed.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3701 Jefferson Ave, Midland, on March 12, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service starting at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your favorite charity or organization.
