Debra McBride Smith departed this life on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at the age of 66. Debra found joy in spending time with family and embraced every experience with enthusiasm and love. She was born in New Orleans, LA, to the late Irvin and Ethel McBride. She attended George Washington Carver Senior High School, where she graduated in 1977, and later earned her degree from Cameron Community College. She is the wife of Terry Smith Sr. Mother of Terry Smith Jr., Terrica Smith and Dina Smith. Sister of Nancy McDaniel (Joseph), Ethel Murry (John), Anita McBride (Sanford), Wanda Polk (Craig), Sidney McBride Sr. (Jimontanae), the late Edward Turner, Cheryl McBride, Alex Turner, Kenneth McBride Sr. and Janice Jenkins Morris. Daughter-in-law to the late Lucille Smith. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren: Terry Smith III, Tejay Smith, Tyree Smith and Dylan Smith; 1 great grandson: Terry Smith IV; godchildren: Matthew Tanner Jr., Sidney McBride Jr., Jakiera Caples, Devin Schaffer and Diamond Schaffer and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Relatives and friends of the family, also employees of Central City Headstart EOC are invited to attend a Funeral Service at Battleground Baptist Church, 2241 Flood St. New Orleans, LA 70117 on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 10:00 am. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am. Interment: Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Arrangements by D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 3933 Washington Ave. New Orleans, LA 70125.
