Ms. Debra Denise Smith-Usrey, 51, of Jasper, passed away on Tuesday February 7, 2023, at UAB Medical Center.
Denise is preceded in death by her stepfather Jerry Latham; grandparents Blackie & Fran Holcomb, Vester & Margaret Smith; uncle Tony Holcomb; stepbrother Rodney Latham; and brothers-in-law Jonny Duncan and Ken Rice.
Denise is survived by her mother Deborah Latham; father Roger Dale Smith; stepmother Barbara Smith; sisters Kathy Cooner (Jeff), Kim Rice, and Tiffany Daniel (Mike); stepsister Nena Wright; brother Shoan Bowden; stepbrother John Latham; nieces Baleigh Cooner, Alicia Cocke, and Tori Daniel; nephews Tyler Smith, Jacob Alexander, Cody Alexander (Nikki), Jordan Cooner, and Garrison Cowen; great nieces Aurora Hester and Lillian Rose Lee; great nephews Brayden Alexander, Riley Alexander, Skylar Alexander, Jackson Cooner, and Doug Lee; family friend Charlie Hendon; special friends Tonya Gibson, Constance McElrath, Samaria Davis, Alyssa Cummings, and Megan Sharpston; and a host of co-workers and friends at UAB Highlands.
Pall Bearers will be Tyler Smith, Charlie Hendon, Jeff Cooner, Chris Cummings, Jordan Cooner, Jacob Alexander, Terry Holcomb, Steve Holcomb, and Garrison Cowen
Services: Visitation will be held Friday February 10, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the Sam Hood Memorial Chapel of Freeman-Hood Funeral Services, with funeral services following at 4:00 PM. Burial will be at Boldo Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Denise Usrey Scholarship Fund at Synovus Bank.
