Debra Ann "Diamond Debbie" Thompson, age 69, of Paoli, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2025. Born on August 10, 1956, in New Albany, Indiana, she was the daughter of Vernon "Harry" Parker and Stella (Linne) Cooke.
Debbie was well-known for her loving nature and heart of gold. She enjoyed watching her grandson, Bradley, race, as well as playing cards and bingo, and occasionally visiting the casino. Debbie retired from the MSD in Louisville after many years of employment.
She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her grandmother, Stella Linne, and her brothers, Dale Parker and Jimbo Wells.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Steve Thompson; her children, Brad Watkins (Teresa), Derrick Thompson (Angela), Patty Woods (Shawn), and Jake Thompson (Brook); and her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy: Bradley Watkins, Shane White, Alex Boyd, George Boyd (Brianna), Cole Thompson, Lane Woods, Reed Woods, Emma Dean, Braxton Dean, Dakota Thompson, Diane McLeland, and Jonathon McLeland. Additionally, she was blessed with great-grandchildren Mikey McLeland and Denver Boyd.
Debbie is also survived by her siblings: Vicky Kallemback (Mark), Tammy Heishman (Charlie), Lanny Wells, and Pam Eversledge (Donnie).
A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions located at 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, and continue on Monday after 10:00 a.m. The service celebrating her life will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026, at the funeral home, followed by burial at Fairview Cemetery in New Albany.
Beyond her family, Debbie had a deep love for animals, especially her dog, Gabby. Contributions in her memory may be made to the ASPCA.
