DeeAnn Kaye Bruff, age 69, of Kent, Washington, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2024, in Renton, Washington, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandma, and friend.
DeeAnn was born on March 6, 1955, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, and was raised by Anita Kohl along with her five brothers. She graduated from high school in Iowa, joined the military, and trained to be a nurse. Later, she went to Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) to earn her Associate's degree. In 1988, she moved to Seattle, Washington, with her daughter Shannon and worked as a programmer for Expeditors until she retired in December 2021.
She is survived by her brothers Mike Conwell, Randy Conwell, and Scott Conwell; her daughter and son-in-law Shannon and Jaime Pena; and her four grandchildren, Abigail Rodriguez, Savannah Pena, Josiah Pena, and Jacqueline Pena. She was preceded in death by her mother Anita Kohl, and her brothers Peter Conwell and Bob Conwell.
Throughout her life, DeeAnn was actively involved with friends, family, and Christ, and was known for her generous spirit and unwavering kindness. She touched the lives of many with her compassionate and loving heart, always willing to lend a helping hand and go out of her way for others. Family was of utmost importance to DeeAnn. She had a deep love for spending quality time with her loved ones. Some of her favorite activities included teaching her grandkids how to knit, quilt, and craft, watching movies together, getting lunch with friends and talking on the phone, going on trips with her girlfriends, and playing board games. She especially loved Yahtzee and bingo, which she often played with residents at Arbor Village, spreading joy and connection through these games.
DeeAnn's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was a Christian and a devoted member of her church community for almost 30 years, where she found strength and solace. Her faith remained strong even in times of illness, and she was known for her positive outlook and resilience.
A celebration of life will be held at Alliance Bible Church in Covington on August 3rd at 2 PM, followed by a reception with some of DeeAnn's favorite snacks.
Rest in peace, DeeAnn. You will forever be in our hearts.
