A private family graveside service for Delano "Del" D. Helmers, 90, of Jackson, MN, will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Good Shepherd Cemetery in Jackson, MN. Friends and family are invited to join the family in remembering Del with a visitation from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 12, 2025, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Jackson, MN. Del passed away Monday, September 8, 2025, at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. The Kramer Funeral Home of Trimont, Sherburn and Welcome, MN, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Delano "Del" Dean Helmers was born on July 11, 1935, in Ringsted, IA, the son of Herman and Jenny (Petersen) Helmers. He graduated from Estherville High School in 1953.
In 1956, Del was united in marriage to Janice Bueltel at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Estherville, IA. Together the couple made their home on a farm near Jackson and were blessed with four children, Terry, Tim, Brenda, and Rhonda.
Del loved life on the farm and was incredibly proud of his work as a farmer. He later worked at Pioneer Seed in Jackson before starting Del's Lawn Care which he operated for over fifteen years. Del attended Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Jackson and was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus since 1956. During his free time, Del could be found caring for his yard and flowers.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Jan Helmers; children, Terry (Nancy) Helmers, Tim (Maureen) Helmers, Brenda (Rick) Schlager, and Rhonda (Jeff) Knight; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Margie Frederickson.
Del was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Jenny Helmers; grandson, Jesse Schlager; sisters, Beverly Boell, and Janet Knudson; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
