Delbert Weakly Obituary
Del was born into a loving family on March 9, 1951 to Jim and Carolyn (Rullman) Weakly in Plymouth, IN. He had a good childhood. He graduated from Triton High School in 1970. He joined the United States Navy in 1971 and served until 1991, spending 20 years in the Navy. He traveled to many countries on his ship. His dad, Jim Weakly got to ride on the ship with him from Hawaii to San Diego. He was proud of being in the Navy, and while in Vietnam, his ship, The Goldsboro was bombed. After he retired, he worked a few factory jobs. He lived in Plymouth with his grandpa, helping to take care of him and keeping him company. He later lived with his dad. He had been living at Heritage House before his incident in August of last year. He belonged to the Bourbon American Legion #434. He loved his dogs, playing chess, watching Star Trek and movies, especially Sci-Fi movies, investing money, collecting coins, and DVDs, and enjoyed researching his family history.
Del is survived by his sisters: Ann (Jim) Auer; and Lydia (Dan) Wiseley; 3 nieces; 15 great-nieces and great-nephews; and 5 great-great-nephews.
Del is preceded in death by his parents; his niece, Courtney Warham; and great-niece, Mackenzie Geese.
A visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 17, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home (115 S. Main St., Bourbon, IN 46504).
A funeral will follow at 12 p.m. with Pastor Kristin Harp officiating.
The burial will take place in Parks Cemetery (Bourbon, IN).
Memorial donations may be made to: Bourbon American Legion #434 (202 S. Main St., Bourbon, IN 46505) or to your local animal shelter in Del's honor.
