Della K. Brown, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed peacefully into eternal rest on October 16, 2025, in Granville County, North Carolina, in her own home. Born on June 10, 1948, in Mecklenburg County, Virginia, she traversed life with a strength and selflessness that endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
As a devoted farmer, Della cultivated not only the rich soil of her land but also the souls of her family. The toil of planting and nurturing the earth mirrored her dedication to her children, as she carried the immense weight of being both mother and father, raising them with a love that was both fierce and unwavering. In moments of hardheadedness, her resolve shone through, solidifying her reputation as a steadfast matriarch who loved deeply and wholeheartedly.
Della possessed a passion for crafting, finding joy in creating beauty with her own hands. This artistry spilled over into her relationship with her loved ones, as she fashioned a home filled with warmth and care. Her spirit resonated in the laughter shared around a dining table adorned with home-cooked meals, providing sustenance not just for the body, but for the soul.
While she navigated the joys and trials of life, Della's unwavering presence will resound eternally in the hearts of her family. Lynn Cochran (Steve), her beloved daughter, stands as a testament to Della's nurturing spirit, alongside her cherished grandchildren: Jessica Oakley, Cody Cochran (Morgan Denton), and Kaitlyn Cochran and her brothers, Jerrie and Ralph Bradberry. These pieces of her heart will carry forth the legacy of her selfless love and unyielding strength.
Della is preceded in death by her dear son, Johnny Bradberry, and is now reunited with her cherished parents, Herman and Laura Hardy Bradberry. The loss of siblings Herman, Hank, Carolyn, and Jennie adds to the somber weight of her departure, alongside the fond memory of Paco, her beloved dog, who once kept her company on her daily endeavors.
Her life will be celebrated during a graveside service at South Granville Memorial Cemetery in Stem, North Carolina, on October 19, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. She will be laid to rest, surrounded by those who came before her, as her legacy continues to bloom in the hearts and minds of those she leaves behind.
Della K. Brown will be remembered not just for her role as a farmer or a dedicated matron; she will be cherished as a symbol of love, hard work, and a spirit that never faltered. In every seed sown, in every craft created, and in every heart she touched, she lives on.
