Della (Leatherman) Gross, 89, of Perkasie, PA; formerly of
Souderton, PA entered into rest on Friday, May 10, 2024 at Grand View Hospital.
She was the loving wife of the late Clyde R. Gross for 48 years. Della was born in Bedminster Township, PA to the late John G. Leatherman and the late Mary (Derstine) Leatherman.
She attended the Deep Run School House in Bedminster, PA. Della was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She also provided care in her home for many children.
Della was a faithful member of Blooming Glen Mennonite Church where she served in the nursery department and was part of the ladies sewing circle.
She loved spending time with her immediate and extended family. Della also loved taking motorcycle rides with her husband and gardening and quilting with her sister, Marie. She enjoyed word search puzzles, canning/freezing, making slapjack, camping, and bus trips.
Della was a humble, caring, compassionate, generous, quiet, strong, hardworking woman who was the prayerful support of her family and friends.
She is survived by her five children, C. Dennis (Janet) Gross of Perkasie, PA, Brenda L. (Michael) Bishop of Blooming Glen, PA, Beverly A. (Philip) Anders of
Souderton, PA, Lori J. (David) Bergey of Perkasie, PA, and R. Daryl (Joelle) Gross of Pocomoke City, MD; her 12 grandchildren – Ryan (Katelyn) Gross, Kimberly (Ben) Moyer, Gregory (Kimberly) Bishop, Jonathan (Jess) Bishop, Megan Bishop, Brent (Joseph) Philips, Natalie (Seth) Fickett, Amy (Derek) Godshall, Abby (Joel) Bankert, Andrew (Katherine) Bergey, Zachary Gross, Sadie Gross; her 14 great-grandchildren – Dylan, Mason, & Kayleigh Gross, Luke, Lydia, & Santos Moyer, Jayla & Addie Bishop and Turner Bishop, Jedidiah, Audeia, & Baruch Fickett, Della & Eden Bankert; and her sister, Marie Hange of Blooming Glen, PA.
In addition to her parents and husband, Della was preceded in death by her 11 siblings, Ida Ott, Arthur Leatherman, Howard Leatherman, Margaret Myers, John Walton Leatherman, Claude Leatherman, Richard Leatherman, Wilson Leatherman, Reda Litzenberger, Earl Leatherman, and Ralph Leatherman.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at Blooming Glen Mennonite Church, 713 Blooming Glen Road, Blooming Glen, PA 18911 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 am.
A private burial will take place at Blooming Glen Mennonite Church Cemetery.
