Delmar Bergkamp

Delmar Albert Bergkamp was born on December 30, 1940 in St. Joe Parish, Ost, Kansas to his parents August Bergkamp & Olga May. He has two surviving brothers Quentin & Roger and five late siblings Hilda, Gene, Tim, Joyce, and Maryrose. He studied with and worked for the Oblates in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Brazil. He enrolled in a Master's of Education program at Our Lady of the Lake College, San Antonio Texas. During this time, he met Pamela Cordeiro from New Delhi, India and they married in 1973 in Ark City Kansas. They were married for 51 years. Delmar has two surviving sons Jude born 1974 & Jesse born 1983. Delmar spent his working years as a teacher and school counselor. He retired in 2005. He has three grandsons Ben, Isaiah, and Zane. Delmar was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His gentle, open-minded, and loving personality was noticed by all who met him. Delmar passed away peacefully on June 30th 2025 surrounded by his family. A service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church in Olympia Washington on July 20th, 2025 from 2-4pm.
