Delmar C. Horne

Delmar Corbet Horne, 77, died unexpectedly June 16, 2025, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born July 15, 1947, in Hutchinson, to Erman Watson "Wat" and Ivalee (Rathbun) Horne.
Delmar graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1965. After graduation he worked for his father at Horne Body Shop. In 1967 he married Pamela Struthers and while they were married, they had two children, Aaron and Alissa. In 1967 he enlisted in the Naval Reserves and was stationed at Point Loma in San Diego, CA. The ship he was assigned to was a mine sweeper. When he left active duty, he returned to his hometown of Hutchinson. He went back to working for his father until he took over the business in 1986. During that time, he became the Ambassador for the Chamber of Commerce, a member of AMBUCS, and a member of the Moose Lodge. In his days of sports, he made many good friends throughout his years of playing slow pitch softball. He later became, as many do, an avid golfer and traveled on many golf trips with those friends. He loved listening to oldies music with Elvis, Gene Pitney and Marty Robbins being his favorites, watching old westerns being his favorite John Wayne, playing Texas Hold 'Em, and making his famous peach cobbler. He also had great love for Doberman Pinschers, for which he had several throughout his life.
In 2015, Delmar decided to retire having his son Aaron Horne be the 3rd generation to continue the family business.
Delmar is survived by: his best friend and companion for over 15 years, Sandy Glover; children, Aaron Horne (Tara) and Alissa Ogburn (Cory); grandchildren, Lyndsey Harris (Dawson), Lilly Horne, Hunter Ogburn (Alayna), Connor Ogburn, and Carly Ogburn; step-grandson, Ryan Henderson; great-grandson, Hudson Harris, with another great-grandchild on the way, all of Hutchinson; brother, Dennis Horne (Patty) of Austin, TX; and sister, Sue Mosier of Wichita.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A private family inurnment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
