Delmo Mancini of Warren, Michigan, born November 28, 1933, quietly and calmly passed onto eternal life on Friday, February 13, 2026 at the age of ninety two (92). Delmo is survived by his devoted wife of sixty one (61) years, Ermelinda Mancini (nee Roppo Valente), whose immeasurable and selfless love, companionship, and care sustained him throughout his life, most particularly over the last few years.
Strongly principled, but always genuine and untiringly hard-working so as to provide for a family to whom he dedicated his life, Delmo was a caring and diligent father to three (3) children: Maria (Thomas) Lucido, Franco (Giovanna) Mancini, and Ugo (Lisa) Mancini; a loving and devoted grandfather to ten (10) grandchildren: AnnaMaria (Ricardo) Ferri, Giuliano (Toni) Mancini, Alessandra (Anthony) Lucido, Gabriella (Anthony) Di Ponio, Marcello (Amelia) Mancini, Peter (Marisa) Lucido, Silvanna Mancini, Lucia Mancini, Adrianna Lucido, and Valentina Mancini; a doting great-grandfather to six (6) great-grandchildren; and a dedicated uncle to multiple generations of nieces and nephews.
Born in Serra d'Aiello, Calabria, Italy to parents Luigi and Maria Mancini, beloved brother of Francesco (the late Sharon) Mancini and Hugo Mancini, and preceded in death by siblings Antonietta Mancini, Amelia Mancini, Carmine (Anna) Mancini, and Aldina Cowan. Together with his family, Delmo emigrated from Italy in 1966 to seek a life in the United States and permanently settled in Detroit.
Delmo's enjoyment in life took the form of hobbies in farming and gardening, rearing livestock, making wine, and making various salumi and sausage, always side-by-side (or more specifically, acting in his self-appointed supervisor role) with his wife and, again always while supervising, with his children and grandchildren to whom he passed on the same traditions. Looking outside of his hobbies, those who came to know him knew that his true passion and satisfaction in life was his family. Not one to necessarily hold court, but always a constant presence at every family gathering to provide some well-placed interjections, his wry smile at a joke or a story that he likely disapproved of but could not help but enjoy always brightened the room. It was at family gatherings like those where he could truly sit back and be at peace with life, surrounded by those he deeply loved and who loved him back, all of whom could not be where they are today without his efforts and the sacrifices he endured. His family mourns his loss, but knows that he is now at peace and are heartened by the lasting legacy and memories created by Delmo.
