DELORES AMEDIA LOWRANCE CONRY
Amedia passed from this life with family and friends by her side on Friday, January 17, and went on to join her loved ones and our Savior in Heaven.
Amedia was the fourth child (first hospital-borne) to Virniel Jospeh Lowrance and Myrtle Lores McDorman Lowrance on April 9, 1938 at Alexander Hospital in Spur, Texas. She was a devoted follower of Christ as a member of the Primitive Baptist Church, with current membership at Cave Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
She attended Lubbock Senior High from 1954 to 1955 and was Second Chair Flute in the Westerner band and Song Leader in La Trezieme Musique girls' band club. For her senior year, she was Second Chair Flute in the "A" band, Song Leader in girls' band club, singer in the Celestialettes girls' a cappella choir, and dedicated member of "Y Teens" scripture and invocation club at Monterey High School, graduating in 1956.
She served as Farm Bureau Director at Large for Grundy County, Tennessee. In this position, she served on the Dairy Promotion Committee and as delegate to the state Farm Bureau Convention. She orchestrated and designed fair exhibits for the "Community Exhibits" at the Grundy County Fair, winning 4th and 2nd place. In 1985, she received special recognition for her service on the Board of Directors.
Her hobbies included sewing and genealogy. She regularly made bespoke clothing for her entire family, including prom dresses for her youngest daughter and eldest granddaughter. In 1988, she performed a critical role in the establishment of the Grundy County Historical Society and was elected the organization's first president. She was a contributing author to The Root Cellar Volume 5 and The Tennessee Civil War Veterans Questionnaires.
She operated her family farm in Grundy County, Tennessee until she moved back to Texas in 1989 where she became a Security Checkpoint Supervisor at DFW Airport in Dallas. In 1992, she returned to Tennessee to be nearer to her grandchildren.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her devotion in life was to her special needs daughter, Gayle Lavoe Conry. She is preceded in death by her parents, Virniel Joseph Lowrance and Myrtle McDorman Lowrance; sisters, Elva Freeman (husband Wesley Freeman), Belva Baker, and Wanda Huneycutt (husband Marvin Huneycutt); and brother, V. J. "Sonny" Lowrance, Jr.
She is survived by her daughters, Gayle Lavoe Conry and Paige Leann Conry Long (husband Gregory Lessel Long) of
Lenoir City, Tennessee; son Carl William Conry, Jr. (wife Pamela Ann Stone Conry) of Tracy City, Tennessee; grandchildren Jedidiah Lessel Long (wife Hallie Lynn Shackelford Long) of Clinton, Tennessee, Natasha Leann Long Garner (husband Elijah Blake Garner) of Harriman, Tennessee and Kayley Dianne Conry of Knoxville, Tennessee; great-grandchild Gabriel Lessel Long; close friend and personal caretaker JoAnn Hicks of Harriman, Tennessee; siblings Parker Lowrance (wife Birdie Lowrance), Timothy Lowrance (wife Pam Lowrance), and Lisa Gunwall (husband Ken Gunwall); brother-in-law Malcolm Baker; sister-in-law Voncille Lowrance; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving family members.
