Delores J. Olson age 90 of Detroit Lakes, MN passed peacefully with her daughter Terri by her side on October 16, 2024, in her residence.
Delores Jane Olson was born on January 11, 1934, in Perham, MN to Clinton and Hilma (Laasch) Elijah. She grew up on the family farm in Height of Land Township, rural Detroit Lakes and attended Country School near there. She later attended Detroit Lakes High School, graduating in 1953. She was united in marriage to Kermit W. Olson Sr. on February 10, 1954, in Detroit Lakes. They made their home in Detroit Lakes. In 1963 they purchased a farm in Evergreen Township, rural Frazee, MN. For many years Kermit drove truck over the road, and Delores and the kids worked on the farm, milking cows. After they stopped farming, Delores would ride with Kermit in his truck. When they moved off the farm, they purchased the former Evergreen Store, where they resided for a number of years. Delores had been a resident at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes since 2008, before recently moving in with her daughter.
Delores enjoyed embroidery, patching clothes, baking bread, playing cards, doing puzzles and life on the farm.
She is survived by one daughter, Terri (Gary) Thunstrom, of Detroit Lakes, MN; two sons, Kermit W. (Jeannie) Olson Jr., of Waverly, IA; and Clinton (Ronda) Olson, Sr., of Ogema, MN; eleven grandchildren, Brandi Olson, James (Chrissy) Clapsaddle, Thomas (Dawn) Clapsaddle, Rhonda Clapsaddle, Jeffrey Thunstrom, Jaetyn Thunstrom, Clinton (Katie) Olson Jr., Jesse Olson, Tya Olson, Victor (Monica) Olson, and Vincent (Keely) Olson; Twenty-four great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit (1998); two infant sisters, great grandson, Jordan Clapsaddle; sister and brother-in-law, Ardella (Leo) Brault; and her parents.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday October 25, 2024; 2:00 p.m. at the West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes, MN.
