Delores Hill Pollard
1939 - 2025
Delores Hill Pollard, affectionately known as "Low or T-Low" age 86, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025, at Ochsner Hospital in Jefferson, Louisiana. She was a native of Raceland, Louisiana and a resident of Boutte, Louisiana. Delores attended C M Washington High School in Thibodaux, LA. She pursued a career as a cosmologist by attending Moler Beauty College in Kenner, Louisiana then shortly afterwards became an entrepreneur by operating, "T-Lowe's Beauty Salon".
Delores was born April 28, 1939. She was the beloved daughter of the late Lucille Alexander Smith and James Smith, Sr. Delores was baptized at an early age at St. Matthew Baptist Church in Matthews, Louisiana then later joined Mt. Airy Baptist Church in Boutte, Louisiana. While at Mt. Airy B.C., she was the president of the Junior Choir for several years and then served on the Senior Usher Board until her passing.
Her favorite pastimes are: FISHING: There is nothing that moved her quicker than when her Grandson, Chucky would call to let her know they are going fishing. She would be ready at dawn with her fishing gear ready to leave at 6AM waiting on him. PHONE CONVERSATIONS: Talking on the phone for hours with family and friends. GRANDCHILDREN: Cherishing who they are and their accomplishments. THE WESTERNS & THE WALTONS: She would discuss each and every episode as if she's never seen them a hundred time over.
Sis. Delores' greatest joy came from her family. Children are a gift from GOD. With the union of her late husband, Melvin W. Hill, Sr, she was blessed to be the proud parent of five: Christine, Dean (Marschell) – and remembered with love are her late children Wesley, Brigette and Dennis Hill. Delores found love and companionship once more when she married James Pollard, Sr. Their union was a testament to enduring power of love at every stage of life.
On October 9, 2025, Delores hearkens to the Saviors voice and departed this life to reside with Jesus in Glory. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: 2 children: Christine and Dean Hill (Marschell); 3 Grandchildren: Charles Taylor (Shannon), Dr. Marquita Hill-George (Gilbert), and Jasmine Hill and 7 Great Grandchildren: Cairen, Charlee, and Colston Taylor, Tatum and Tyree George, and Shane, Jr. and Saint McCallon. 4 Step-Children: Stephanie Neal (Willie), Elizabeth Drone (Joe), James Edward Pollard, Jr., Ernest Pollard (Diane) and 20 Step-Grandchildren. 3 Godchildren: Thomas Jefferson, Jessica Davis and Dana Hills. 8 In-laws: Geraldine D. Hill, Patrica Smith, Theresa Vessell, Jane Jefferson, Morris Williams, Sr., John (Louise), Joseph (Joann), and Albert Pollard (Leotha). 4 Devoted Friends: Barbara Wilson, Geraldine Williams, Loretta Alexander, and Louise Champagne.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lucille Alexander Smith and James Smith, Sr.; her husbands: Melvin W. Hill, Sr. and James Pollard, Sr., her children: Melvin W. Hill, Jr., Bridgette A. Hill, Dennis R. Hill; her step-children: Jane Kennedy, Broderick Pollard her siblings: Sarah Jefferson, Lucille Moten (Joseph), Olister Hardy, Shirley Mason (LV, Nick), Louis, James, Jr. and Henderson Smith, Sr., her in-laws: Joseph, Sr. (Marion), Wilbert, Sr., Clyde, Sr. (Julia), Donald (Geraldine), Roland (Brenda), Nicodemus, Leonard (Sumako) and Albertine Hill, Dorothy and Gloria Hills, Carolyn Markey (Stanley), Lela H. Williams, Charles Jefferson, Sr., James Hardy, Sr. Alfred, Ernest ( Renee) and Rev. Calvin Pollard (Lena), and Viola Adams (Ike).
Delores' life was filled with many great blessings. The legacy she leaves behind is rich with love and purpose, a reflection of a woman who gave generously of herself to those around her. To God be the glory for the things He has done through her life. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. Gone from our presence but forever in our hearts.
Relatives and friends of the family, pastors, officers and members of Mt. Airy Baptist Church and all neighboring Churches are invited to a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00am on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Mt. Airy Baptist Church, 13635 Old Spanish Trail, Boutte, LA 70039. Rev. Clyde J. Staes, Pastor. Visitation 9:00am until the time of service at the above-named Church. Interment Mt.
