HER STORY
Rosemary Barre White
1937 - 2025
Sis. Rosemary Barre White, affectionately known as "Mi Winnie" age 88, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025, at her home in Killona, Louisiana.
Born May 1,1937 and was the beloved daughter of the late Louise Cannon Barre and Victor Barre. The sister of Antoine Stanley Barre. She was one of strength and resilience, whose journey through life was filled with love, service, and unwavering faith.
Sis. Rosemary's greatest joy came from her family. Children are a gift from GOD and she was blessed to be the proud mother of thirteen, Sharon, Cassandra, Eddie, Lori, Adonica, Shawane, Denise, LaTanya, Charmaine, Orelyn, Allegra-and remembered with love are her late sons Craig and Kurt Chopin.
On April 23,2022 she found love and companionship once more when she married Mr. Peter White. Their union was a testament to the enduring power of love at every stage of life.
On September 1, 2019, Rosemary was baptized at Historic Bell Baptist Church under the divine leadership of Rev. Rodney L. Johnson Sr., a spiritual milestone that deepened her already profound faith. She believed wholeheartedly that God would be everything she needed and placed all her trust in Him. Her church family held a special place in her heart, and she remained deeply grateful for their fellowship and for the guidance of her pastor.
For 25 years, Rosemary dedicated herself to the St. Charles Parish School System. Her work left a lasting impact on countless students and colleagues who were fortunate to know her during her tenure. Beyond her professional contributions, she was well known in her community for her entrepreneurial spirit-especially for her frozen cup and candy shop that brought joy to many.
Her passions included gardening, cooking meals especially for Eddie Jr., and shopping at Cato's-simple pleasures that reflected her vibrant personality and zest for life. She had a special way of turning everyday moments into cherished memories. A phenomenal mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: a loving husband Peter White, (11) children: Sharon Sorden (Bruce), Cassandra Santoke, Denise Turner (Joseph), Lori Chopin (Sandra), Shawane Taylor (Charles), Eddie Jr., Adonica, LaTanya, Charmaine, Orelyn Sr., and Allegra Chopin, (1) brother Antoine Stanley Barre, (26) grandchildren, (55) great-grandchildren; and (5) Great-great-grandchildren, (1) sister in-law, (4) brother in-laws, caregiver Javel Stipe. devoted friends; Mary Lewis, Kemani Lewis, Betty August, Helen Johnson, and Rose Lockett, HBBC family and the community of Killona.
She was preceded in death by her parents Louise Cannon Barre and Victor Barre, two sons Craig and Kurt Chopin.
Sis. Rosemary's life was filled with many great blessings. The legacy she leaves behind is rich with love and purpose, a reflection of a woman who gave generously of herself to those around her. To God be the glory for the things He has done through her life. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. Gone from our presence but forever in our hearts.
Relatives and friends of the family, pastors, officers and members of Historic Bell Baptist Church and all neighboring Churches are invited to a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00am on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Historic Bell Baptist Church, 300 Hackberry Street, Luling, LA 70070.
