Delores Ann Walton of Alexandria, Virginia passed away on December 16, 2024, after a number of chronic health issues. Ann, as she went by, was born on September 24, 1945, to Lawrence William and Dorothy Virginia Moon Davis (both deceased) in Charlottesville, Virginia. Ann was sister to Hampton Davis, Kelly Davis (deceased), Judy Anderson, and Sue Davis.
After moving to Fayette Street, she and her siblings considered downtown Alexandria home. It is there she met James Dempsey Walton, Jr. (deceased) and they were married in 1964. She and Jimmy or JD as he was known, had James Dempsey Walton III and Teresa Lynn Williams (John). Ann was the best mom to her children, and devoted her life to caring for her family, their families, and extended family. Ann was known as Grandma to Amanda Young (Todd), Haley Walton, Bryce Williams (Meroe), Jacob Walton, Seth Williams and Brynne Williams. Katelyn, Ian, Cole, Lily and Evelyn Young as well as Dempsey Williams called her Gigi. She was Aunt Ann to Robin Trowbridge, Barbara Davis (Tony), Lisa Cain (Mike) and Melissa Swanger, as well as many great nieces and nephews. Jimmy also gifted Ann a maltipoo, whom she named Duchess and has been a faithful friend for the past 18 years.
In addition to cross stitch and crossword puzzles, she was a wizard with houseplants. In the early years of marriage, she enjoyed traveling and considered Portugal her most favorite trip. In her middle years, she worked at a local Hallmark retail store which fulfilled her greatly socializing with co-workers and customers, while being surrounded by all the collectibles that she was very fond of. She loved her weekly visits to her hair salon and then doing some shopping, these were among her favorite days. Her love of cooking kept her family not only well fed but always requesting recipes and family meals. She loved hosting any and all for every occasion.
