James Christian Walton, 52, entered into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 8, 2025, following an extended illness. He was born on December 20, 1972, in Winston-Salem. He loved the outdoors and began riding dirt bikes at an early age. As an amateur racer, he went on to win many awards and trophies over the years. James also enjoyed many years of playing baseball at South Little League in Winston-Salem. He possessed a special talent for fixing just about anything. He enjoyed his career as an electrician at Johnson Modern Electric. Above all, James loved being a father and loved his family.
James was preceded in death by the father who adopted him, Rickey Walton; as well as his paternal and maternal grandparents. Surviving are his wife, Calamity S. Walton; sons, J.D. Sloan, Seth Walton and Travis Walton; granddaughter, Decoda Sloan; his mother, Cheryl Walton; brother, Matthew Walton; sister, Janet Walton; his wife’s parents, Johnny and Norma Jones; his father, Larry Little; close family friend, Stanley Hicks; Noah Dickens, who was like a son; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family extends special thanks to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice, Novant Health Oncology, and James’ employer and co-workers for their care and compassion during his illness. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, PO Box 325, Dobson, NC 27017.
