Delores Wierman, affectionately known as Dee, was a feather of light in the lives of everyone she knew. Born on June 10, 1931, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, her journey of life led her to touch many hearts before her departure on February 6, 2025. A courageous woman, she left her home state at the tender age of 19 to experience the sunny embrace of California. It was there, amidst the palm trees and golden beaches, that she worked as a Mathematical Typist at the University of California in Los Angeles. She was proud to have worked alongside a mathematician who had the privilege of working with Albert Einstein.
Delores' life took a delightful turn when she met Edward, her life partner, at a dance in the sophisticated Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood. Their love story was one of classic romance beginning on the dance floor and of enduring commitment, the kind of love that spanned five decades. Together, they filled their lives with house designs, love, and family. Delores was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, leaving behind a legacy through her children: Thomas (Sandy) Wierman, Paul Wierman, Marsha (Chuck) Latta, Andrew (Mary Ann) Wierman, Kurt (Susan) Wierman, Dianne (Wayne) Hamerling, Jennifer (Gordon) Knox, and their families. Delores' life was enriched by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
A devout Catholic, Delores was heavily involved in the St. Peter's Catholic Church. She served her community as a Eucharist Minister, created beautiful quilts for the annual church sale, and relishing the company of her dear friends Anne and Maureen at the Sunday coffee hour. Delores' life was a testament to the verse from Proverbs 31:25-26, "She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue." Delores lived her life with grace, demonstrating a rare combination of love, strength, and resilience that won't be forgotten.
