Obituary published on Legacy.com by Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory - West Odessa on Sep. 16, 2024.
Denise Michelle Evetts Blake, 60, of
Odessa, Texas, moved from this earth into the glorious mansion Jesus prepared just for her in Heaven on Sunday, September 8, 2024.
Denise was born on September 5, 1964 in Temple, Texas. She met and married her Levelland high school sweetheart, Robin Blake, and soon would have celebrated 43 years of marriage. Brandon Blake, their son, is married to Stacy, and they reside in Odessa with their seven children. Melissa Blake, their daughter, makes her home in Odessa with her son, and has found such happiness with her boyfriend, Joe Goff. Robin and Denise's promotion to Papa & Mimi from Mom and Dad has been their favorite life upgrade. Their 8 grandchildren all live in Odessa: Mallorie, Kaelie, Emalie, Brody, Colton, Natalie, Boston and Braylie. Denise's sisters, Debbie Copeland from Carbon, TX & Dana Reed from Waco, Tx, will forever cherish their blue-eyed, blonde-haired sister they fiercely loved. The Evetts Sisters loved being together and always lit up the world with laughter and silliness everywhere they went.
Denise lived her life the best she knew and left this earth praying her beloved children would find much happiness, peace, love and joy in this messed-up world. Her greatest desire focused on wanting nothing more than their happiness. May her prayers be answered throughout the years to come. Lord Jesus, be with them, draw them all close to you, and provide for them as only You can.
Denise's only real hobby involved chalk paint. She absolutely loved that stuff. Her idea of fun was taking something ugly and turning it into something beautiful using a sander and a paint brush. She loved doing this. Do you think she did it in the backyard in a well-ventilated area, or maybe in the garage or something? OH NO. She did it right there in her living room. Denise always did things her own way and there was no talking her out of it. EVER. She had an affinity to fix anything that broke. She wasn't afraid of hammers or screw drivers, broken washing machines, or anything else. That was our Denise.
But nothing ever trumped Denise's passion for her children and grandchildren. She was their biggest cheerleader and never missed an opportunity to tell them how much she loved them and how much she wanted them to be the best they could be. She adored them and wanted so much for them. When she wasn't fixing stuff, or doing things with, and for the children, she liked to pick weeds out of her yard. She didn't require much else from life. This was our Denise.
Preceding her in death were her beloved parents, David & Donna Evetts, her husband's parents, Roger & Charlene Blake, her cherished paternal grandparents, Travis & Ednah Evetts, and maternal grandparents, John & Lillie Beatrice Lynch, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved her dearly. Perhaps the most beautiful reunion in Heaven
this past Sunday was the moment she received in her arms a baby named Dalton Lewis, lost to Missy on the day of his birth. I suspect Jesus had a rocking chair ready for this very moment.
Denise had a fulfilling career at First Physicians: Wendover Family Medicine as their office manager. She ran a tight ship. Even after many years of having retired from there, she was always telling stories from those days as it was once a huge part of her life. I am certain they missed her once she was gone.
Denise would absolutely love how the Ector County Sheriff's department took charge of taking care of Robin and the kids upon her passing. The family would like to give their sincerest thank you to all who have gone the extra mile for Robin, Brandon, and Missy. Your love and support and provision means the world to them. Thank you.
Denise would also want you to know that she loved you, too. In her absence, she hopes you will remember her husband, kids and grandkids and hug and bless them often for her. Her biggest hope, though, is that you will be part of the Great Reunion in the Sky and if you don't know what that is, she wants you to find out.
There will be no family visitation, but they do welcome you to contact them because they truly value your friendship.
Denise's Celebration of Life begins at 10 am, Monday morning, September 16, 2024 at the Bridge Church in
Odessa, Texas. Knowing she is in Heaven for all of Eternity and that we will be reunited with her makes this loss bearable.
Denise Michelle Evetts Blake.
A woman loved by all who knew her.
A woman who made the world a better place.
May this be said of us all someday.
