Denise Lynn Grayer, aged 50, departed this life unexpectedly on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Trinity Health Hospital after a brief illness. She was the cherished baby girl of her family, born on August 27, 1974, to the late George and Lillie Grayer in Plainfield, New Jersey.
Denise was a proud graduate of Muskegon High School's class of 1993. At Muskegon High School, she showcased her musical talent as a member of the marching band, where she played the clarinet.
Denise's passion for singing blossomed at an early age of 4 or 5, when she began performing with her family group, "The Willing Hearts". Singing was Denise's way of expressing love, compassion, and joy. Denise's remarkable voice was indeed a divine gift, one that she used to minister in song.
Professionally, Denise dedicated many years to the Muskegon Public School system before finding her calling at Timberland Charter Academy, where she worked for 13 years. Denise's warmth and generosity earned her many friends, who she always welcomed into her life as family.
Outside of work, Denise had a zest for life. She loved traveling, hosting family gatherings, picnics, and backyard barbecues. Denise was a true friend to all, extending her kindness and heart to everyone she met.
Denise is survived by her son Lee David Grayer, her siblings, Anthony R. Howard of
Maryland, Danny (Isabella) McPhail, Harvey "Dude" McPhail (Pat West), both of Muskegon, MI.
