Dennis S. Becker, 60, of Amboy, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, surrounded by his loving family.
Dennis was born on July 2, 1965, in Mendota, Illinois, the son of Eugene and Teresa (Hohlman) Becker. He was a 1983 graduate of Amboy High School.
Dennis worked at Dean's Foods in Dixon before fulfilling his dream of owning his own business. He founded Becker Auto Body, which he proudly operated for 33 years. After retiring in 2017, Dennis went on to work for DSK Ag in Amboy, where he combined his talent and passion by painting tractors-one of his favorite hobbies.
Known as the family's go-to handyman, Dennis could build or fix anything he set his mind to. He loved working outdoors and especially cherished time spent watching his grandchildren play sports. Dennis was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as a judge for the Depot Days Car Show for more than 20 years.
On November 4, 1994, Dennis married the love of his life, Sue Dempsey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Teresa Becker; his in-laws, Bob and Floris Dempsey; and his niece, Robin Vander Linden.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Sue Becker; his daughter, Demi (Jeff Bryant) Becker of Amboy; his stepson, Chris (Deanna Dolan) Boyle of Sublette; his stepdaughter, Courtney (Luke Negley) Lewis of Sublette; and his six beloved grandchildren, Lilly, Sam, Braxton, Brayden, Claire, and Carter, who lovingly called him "Papa."
He is also survived by his siblings, Bob (Dee) Becker of Tennessee, Cindy (Dan) Macholan of Texas, Mike Becker of Arizona, Dave (Laurie) Becker of Louisiana, and Danny Becker of Arizona, as well as his dog, Ace.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 19, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy, and again on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the church.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy.
Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery in Amboy. A funeral dinner will be held at the Amboy community building following service. Arrangements by the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. Condolences can be left at
