Dennis Bentsen was born July 24th, 1947, and died on July 30th, 2024. He was born in Brooklyn, and moved to Staten Island in 1959, where he spent the remainder of his life. While attending Tottenville High School, he showed an uncanny aptitude for electronics and the sciences, and often utilized a self-built ham radio to communicate with radio users in other countries. He always had a genuine curiosity about the world and how things work. He attended college where he studied engineering, psychology, and liberal arts, and he received a certification from the Cleveland Institute of Electronics. He went on to become a repairman with Sears for 28 years, where he fixed VCR's, beta-max, televisions, and computers. He continued this activity even after retirement. He was a lover of science fiction, literature, and the arts. He was immensely devoted to his family, whom he dutifully captured on film and video, always having the latest technology handy. He was married to his wife Denise for 53 years. He is survived by his wife Denise Bentsen, and his daughters Julie and Sandra Bentsen.
A Funeral service will be offered at 11:00 AM on Saturday at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc. located at 28 Eltingville Blvd Staten Island, New York 10312. Arrangements include private cremation.
