Dennis Brown Obituary

Dennis Lee Brown

September 9, 1958 - April 11, 2024

Arlington, Texas - Dennis Lee Brown, born on September 9, 1958, Levelland, Texas, to Harvey Lee and Marietta Ruth Brown, was a man whose life embodied the essence of Texan spirit. Growing up in Arlington, Texas, Dennis embraced his community with open arms, leaving an unforgettable mark on all who knew him.

From his early years, Dennis displayed his athletic prowess, particularly in football, a passion he carried throughout his life. Attending Sam Houston High School, he became the epitome of a Sam Houston Texan, earning the esteemed title of Mr. Sam Houston-an honor held by only a slight few. His dedication to his alma mater was unwavering, reflecting his deep-rooted Texan pride.

After high school, Dennis pursued higher education at the University of Texas at Arlington and West Texas A&M until an injury cut short his football career. Undeterred, Dennis returned to Arlington with his trademark can-do attitude, channeling his entrepreneurial spirit into building his own business.

More than anything else, Dennis cherished his family. His daughters, Allison, and Natalie were the lights of his life, and the arrival of grandchildren brought him immeasurable joy and pride. He was a devoted father and grandfather, always putting family first.

Dennis was not only a pillar in his community, but also a beacon of generosity and compassion. His philanthropic endeavors included involvement with organizations such as, the Booster Club of The Oakridge School, the SHHS Alumni Association, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County, the Salvation Army, Men Serving God, and Restore Hope via the Golf Tournament, touching countless lives.

Despite numerous contributions, Dennis remained humble, often shying away from recognition. However, his altruism did not go unnoticed, as evidenced by his acceptance of the Dr. Robert and Sara Brown Humanitarian Award from the Boys & Girls Clubs of North Texas in 2020 as well as the Men Serving God Exemplary Service Award in 2022.

Beyond his commitment to serving others, Dennis had a passion for old cars and trucks, his love for the color red was evident in his vehicles. Yet, it was his infectious laughter, warm hugs, and outgoing personality that endeared him to all who crossed his path.

Dennis is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Marietta 'Rita' Brown, and father, Harvey 'Shorty' Brown. He is survived by his daughter, Allison Ray, her husband, Derek, and their children, Caroline and Thomas, his daughter, Natalie Ratliff, her husband, Robert, and their children, Wyatt and Henry, his sister, Reba Blevens and her husband Scott, his sister, Retha Weidner and her husband Tim along with many nieces and nephews.

Dennis will be deeply missed by his daughters, grandchildren, family, and friends, who will always cherish his charming smile, infectious laugh, zest for life, and positive attitude.

A visitation to celebrate Dennis's life will be held at Wade Funeral Home and Crematory on Thursday, April 25, 2024, from 6-8 p.m., followed by a funeral service on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church Arlington. The final resting place at Hawkins Cemetery will follow, where Dennis will be laid to rest surrounded by those who loved and admired him the most. Let us come together to honor the memory of a man who lived life to the fullest and brought light into the lives of all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dennis's name to Men Serving God, P.O. BOX 13765, Arlington, TX 76094 or Sam Houston High School Alumni Association, P.O. BOX 152742, Arlington, TX 76015.

I miss visiting you in Lillian. Sitting outside on cool evenings me, you, and Mark just talking and reminiscing about our school days and our young years. I miss those "how are y'all doing?" calls. You left us so many fun and laughter memories. Thank you for your friendship. I miss you so much. Rest in Peace my friend.

We are so saddened by this news. Dennis will be missed. Dennis was a super person, a vital part of our family´s time at Oakridge and beyond. He would do anything for Jen, Sandi and Meesh or anyone for that matter and was lovingly referred to as "Daddy Brown." Allison and Natalie, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Dennis was the best friend and neighbor that you can ask for, always going above and beyond to help in whatever capacity he could .He always managed to share a Christmas ham that he smoked and was always willing to lend me his bobcat and professional advice whenever I needed it accompanied with laughs always. God speed brother till we meet again in the great bye and bye.

Dennis was such a lovely man. He was always willing to help out. And he always had a smile on his face. He truly brought joy wherever he went. He will be missed but remembered!
