Dennis A. Daley passed away on August 18th, 2024 at the age of 72 in his home surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Chicago, IL as the first son of Eugene and Mary Daley. Denny and his wife Barbara moved out to Salida, CO in 1981 and opened up Valley Radiator (known as "the best place in town to take a leak") for five years and then started Mama D's deli until 1997. In 1998 Denny and Barb established the Sears Authorized Retail Dealer store in Poncha Springs, CO. Over the years he was well known for being the bass player of the Lazy Alien Blues Band, Salida's Santa Claus for several years, sat on the Salida City Council for a couple of terms and was apart of the founding of the Salida Trail System.
You'll remember him whistling and singing while working the counter at Mama D's and manning the floor at the Sears store. or you may remember seeing him walking the 6 miles up highway 50 to the Sears store for many years.
Dennis is preceded by his parents, sister, brother-in-law and father-in-law. He is survived by his wife, Barbara and four sons, Sean (Lorie), Matthew {Lauren), Michael (Jillian) and David (Holly), mother-in-law Betty Karis. And his beloved grandchildren, Shawna, Lexi, Ashton, Sloan and Declan and soon to be Great Grand Daughter Aspen. Also sisters, brother and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
We are hosting a celebration of life at the Granzella Hall on 450 Palmer Street in Salida on Saturday, August 31st 2024 from 12PM to 5PM. Dress casual (Please do not wear black) and bring your funniest Denny Daley stories!

To the Daley family ,
We send our deepest sympathy, Denny was a great friend and loved to talk about Chicago in days gone by. Also a good Neighbor to John and I when we were first married, explaining one day how my son was climbing out the window every night...We loved to go see him when he was playing with The Lazy Aliens...and would visit him at Mama D's quite often...
I also remember him walking down Hwy 50 and I
would honk my horn and he would smile and give a big wave.. He was one in a million and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him ..
You are all in our thoughts and prayers,
Joann Henderson, Beverly Seversen, John Seversen

Barb, Norie, Judy & the entire Daley family,

Although I never met Denny, I felt like I knew him from all the great stories & the love & laughter expressed when Judy & Norie would talk about him and his family.

My heart & sympathies goes out to all his family & friends. I know you all fought this tough fight with him over the last couple of years. Now it is time for him to rest & have peace & comfort in heaven with his loved ones.

Much love & peace,
Lynda Persico Lombardo
