Dennis Ray Davis, age 69, of Laingsburg, formerly of East Lansing, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2024, in Laingsburg, Michigan surrounded by loved ones. A Celebration of Life will be announced.
Dennis was born on November 6, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan, to Ray Eugene and Ruth Marvlene (Habner) Davis, Dennis was the beacon of strength and joy as the oldest among his siblings. His early years were spent in Durand, Michigan, where his family had moved during his childhood, and where he cultivated a lifetime of cherished memories.
In the summer of 1980, Dennis married Lynn Yvonne Blakemore, marking the beginning of a journey filled with over four decades of love, and laughter. Dennis was already a father to his beautiful daughter, Shelly and was overjoyed to add his son, Leonard into his circle. The Davis family made their home in East Lansing before eventually settling in the charming town of Laingsburg, where Dennis and Lynn enjoyed their retirement years.
Dennis is lovingly remembered by his wife, Lynn; his children, Shelly (Brad) West and Leonard Davis; his cherished grandchildren, Brenton Ezinga, BreAnna Ezinga, Ethan West, Hunter Lee Davis, Wyatt Leland Davis, and Leighton Sawyer Davis. His legacy also lives on through his sisters, Cheryl Ann (Mark) Miller and Donna Sue Davis; his brother, Jeff Eugene Davis; and numerous nieces and nephews. His lifelong friends, Gary and Larry Arter, hold a treasury of stories from their shared adventures growing up. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and his infant sister, Debbie.
Throughout his career, Dennis was a proud member of the Painters Local Union in Lansing. His dedication and skill were evident in his work with B & J Painting, where he spent many years before his well-earned retirement. His colleagues respected him not only for his work ethic but also for the camaraderie and brightness he brought to the job site.
Dennis's zest for life was most apparent in his love for the great outdoors. An avid fisherman and camper, he shared his passion with his children, creating a legacy of outdoor adventures and cherished family memories. His infectious sense of humor was a source of endless entertainment, and his ability to dance and sing along to the greatest hits of Motown brought joy to those around him.
Known for his spirited personality and readiness to embark on any adventure, Dennis's presence was a gift to all who knew him. He was the life of any gathering, always ready with a joke or a story, and his hands were rarely still, as he was adept at fixing anything that needed mending.
The world will miss Dennis Ray Davis, a man who lived his life with laughter, love, and a touch of mischief. His legacy of joy, his commitment to family and friends, and his love of life's simple pleasures will continue to inspire those he has left behind.
