Dennis C. Diedrich, age 83, of McHenry passed away peacefully April 4, 2025 with his family by his side. Loving husband to Mary Kay, nee Adams, for 60 wonderful years. Devoted father to Jeff (Linda) Diedrich and Tina (Rob) Schwichow. Cherished Grandpa to Justin (Samantha) Diedrich, Cassandra (William) Herrmann, Abagail Diedrich, Joseph Diedrich, Alexa (Richard) Furman, Jade Schwichow, Aiden Schwichow, and Taylor Pribyl. Adored Great grandpa to Dennis and Anne. Dear brother to Marilyn (the late Jerry) Thelen, William "Bill" (Carrie) Diedrich, Sally (the late LeeRoy) Cahill, Barbara (Tim) Miholich, Eugene Diedrich, JoAnn (Bob) Harrington, Sue (Randy) Nawalaniec, the late Dolores (the late Walter) Huffar, the late Harold "Harry" (Joyce) Diedrich, and the late Ronald "Ron" (Madge) Diedrich. Fond uncle, cousin and brother-in-law to many.
Dennis's journey began in the Seminary, where his path took a serendipitous turn upon meeting the love of his life, Mary Kay. Also during this time, he spent 6 years in the Army National Guard and was very proud of his service to our country. Dennis found his true calling in the pastoral life of a dairy farmer. His connection to the land and his cattle was more than a job; it was a testament to his character and his love for nature's gifts. In addition to farming, later in life Dennis found a home in sales. He worked with various local lumber companies, where his honesty and personable nature made him a favorite among customers and colleagues alike. He had a notorious sweet tooth, with a particular fondness for Burger King's 'cinna-minis,' which brought him an almost childlike joy. His enthusiasm for these small delights was infectious and a reminder to all who knew him of the importance of savoring life's sweet moments. He will be remembered with love and admiration by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A visitation will be held Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Dr. McHenry IL from 4:00-8:00pm. I´ll miss you Dennis. You were one of my favorite people to see walking around the neighborhood and I enjoyed our conversations over the fence on those nice days. While I´m sad that I won´t see you on the sunny afternoons, I look forward to seeing you again when my time comes and I´m called home too. I know you are walking that street of gold, guided by Jesus as he shows you around on the way to that mansion that was promised to you. I know you are looking down on your family with that smile and love for them. You are missed. And don´t worry, I´ll keep an eye on the flag for you.
