LIVINGSTON – Dennis Merle Dixon, age 75, of Livingston, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, December 29, 2023. He was born on January 31, 1948, in Lancaster, the son of Bae and Catherine (Snider) Dixon. Dennis attended grade school at Kingsford Country School and graduated from Lancaster High School in 1966. On February 14, 1976, he was united in marriage to Debbie McCartney at the Lancaster United Methodist Church. Dennis farmed all his life. He enjoyed showing cattle, riding horses, watching and attending rodeos, and spent most of his winters cutting wood. Dennis also enjoyed looking over his angus cattle. He dearly loved spending time with his grandchildren, especially sleepovers. Dennis was an avid member of the West Grant Saddle Club, Southwest Regional Rodeo, and the Grant County Cattleman.
Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Debbie; their children: Darwin (Denise), David (Jenny), Dustin (Jeanna); six grandchildren: Alyssa, Daisy, Carly, Tyler, Tessa, and Traci; two sisters: Gale (Gary) Roesch and Donna Laufenberg; members of the McCartney family; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Arnold and Elsie McCartney; brothers-in-law: Clayton McCartney and Gerald Laufenberg; a niece, Carrie Hartnett.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Youth & Ag Building in Lancaster with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating with a luncheon to follow. Burial will be at a later date. Family and friends may call on Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Youth & Ag Building and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is assisting the family.
