Dennis R. Foth, age 80, passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at his home in the Town of Spencer.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, March 10, 2025, at North Ridge Church in Marshfield with Pastor Preston Tippen officiating. Dennis will be laid to rest next to his wife, Gayle, in West Spencer Cemetery in the Town of Sherman where full military honors will be conducted by his comrades of American Legion Post 298 of Spencer and with U.S. Army personnel from the State of Wisconsin. Family and friends are invited to gather for a time of visitation on Sunday, March 9th at Life Tributes Funeral Home in Spencer from 2 PM to 6 PM and again on Monday at the church from 10 AM until time of services. The honor of pallbearer belongs to: Tom Foth, Todd Foth, Terry Foth, Keith Caswell, Shane Boe, and Scott Johnson.
Dennis was born on June 12, 1944, in the Town of Spencer; son of the late Myron and Sophia (Hupe) Foth. In his youth, he attended the Town of Brighton Grade School before graduating from Spencer High School. Following graduation, he joined the United States Army where he served his country from 1965 to 1967. On June 25, 1967, he was united in marriage to Kathy "Gayle" Folmar in Goshen, Alabama.
After high school, Dennis worked various jobs including hauling canned milk, logging, making maple syrup and building sheds, silos and barns for neighbors. He was employed at Roll-A-Home, Spencer Co-Op, and Anderson Sawmill also serving as a crop adjuster. For everyone who knew Dennis, he was a that special dedicated dairy farmer who made you feel better for knowing him. He will be sadly missed
Dennis was a member of North Ridge Church in Marshfield. He was on the Town of Spencer board serving as Supervisor for 16 years and as Chairman for 16 years; he also served as Road Commissioner for 10 years. He joined the Spencer Fire Department in 1974 until the mid-1980's and was on the fire commission from 2014-2024, serving as Treasurer. He was a member of Spencer Jaycees and a charter member of the American Legion in Unity before he helped to start the American Legion in Spencer in 2015 and was part of their Honor Guard detail also serving as their treasurer.
Forever cherishing his memory are his son, Jason (Renee Varney) Foth of Spencer; his daughter, Jen (Paul) Thornton of Laona; his grandson, Justin (Jenna) Foth of Hortonville; his great-grandsons, Marshall and Miles; his brother, Russell Foth of Spencer; his sisters-in-law, Mary Ann (Fred) Brockhurst and Emily Johnson and his brother-in-law, Jim (Elaine) West along with nieces, nephews, hunting buddies, neighbors, comrades and dear friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents; his wife, Gayle; his son, Jamie; his sisters, Irene Toltzman and Ardine Caswell and his brothers, Robert Foth, Armin Foth and William Foth in infancy.
If desired, the family is accepting memorials in Dennis' name that should be directed to The American Legion Post 298 in Spencer.
The family would like to send an extra special thank you to the staff at Compassus Hospice for the excellent care and compassion given to their father and grandfather. Their care was greatly appreciated.
