Dennis T. Guilfoyle, (Gil) 94, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025 at RiverWoods in Durham, NH. He was born on December 17, 1930 in New York City to Mary (nee Lee) Guilfoyle and Thomas Guilfoyle.
In early 1960 the growing family moved from New York to Stratham NH. In 1966 Dennis opened an Esso gas station which grew to become a thriving car dealership, Gil's, until it's closing in 2011.
Dennis and his wife had a very deep faith and were Communicants of St. Michael's Church where they served as Eucharistic Ministers for the sick and homebound for over 25 years.
He also served in the Korean Conflict after which he utilized the GI Bill to learn to fly and obtained a private pilot license. He enjoyed flying and traveling and visited many places over the years. In recent years, he spent much of his free time at the Hampton Airfield where he developed many friendships and memories.
Dennis was devoted to his family. He organized and hosted many holiday gatherings as well as an annual family reunion which has been held for over 30 years.
Dennis is predeceased by his wife, Wilma, his daughter, Theresa Dunkerley, his granddaughter, Casey Guilfoyle and his son-in-law, Andrew Reed, siblings Thomas Guilfoyle, Anne Cahill, Mary McElroy and William Guilfoyle. He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen and her spouse, John Croteau, his son, Timothy and his spouse, Robyn, his daughter, Karen, his daughter, Michele, his son Matthew and his son-in-law, Christopher Dunkerley. He leaves behind ten treasured grandchildren, Nathan, Ryan, Tegan, Benjamin, Nicholas, Hannah, Jordan, Elise, Abby and Meghan, and ten great-grandchildren, Quinn, Gianna, Madison, Lauren, Laurel, Rowan, Dylan, Odan, Madelyn and Sevyn along with several beloved nieces and nephews. Dennis loved to watch his family interact and grow.
In 2005 he moved to South Hampton, NH. In February of 2020 he became a resident of RiverWoods in Durham where he was heard to say "I couldn't have it any better".
His sense of humor, quick wit and jolly disposition went hand in hand with one of his nicknames, "Dennis the Menace"; Dennis, you will be fondly remembered and missed by many.
