Dennis Glenn Hayman, and his twin sister, were born in Bangor, Maine on April 30, 1947, to Albion Seth and Clarice Fae (Shults) Hayman. With his father's career, Dennis moved around frequently and has fond memories in Portland, Maine, Granby, Connecticut, South Easton, Massachusetts, and Lawrence, Indiana where he graduated from Lawrence Central High School.
Dennis furthered his education obtaining an Electrical Engineering Degree at the University of Missouri (now known as S&T) in Rolla. After graduating college, he joined the Federal Government; first for Naval Avionics in Indianapolis overseeing contractors nationwide on advanced systems, followed by his promotion to Nav Sea in Washington, DC, and finally the Department of Defense where he joined the team developing the first high speed integrated circuit chips.
Dennis was known for his lifelong interest in local history, especially related to the Trail of Tears, and family genealogy. He enjoyed the outdoors, sunfish sailing, canoeing, and kayaking. Some of his fondest moments kayaking were from the family camp on Jackson Brook Lake in Maine. Dennis was a handyman and liked to repair and fix things, especially computers. He was an avid collector of movie DVD's and snow globes.
Dennis was a man of faith and baptized member of Corinth Baptist Church. He was an early member of the Washington Apple Pi Computer user group. Dennis was also a member of the Dent County Historical Society. He was awarded the "Gift of Time" for his work repainting all the Trail of Tears markers throughout Dent County.
Dennis departed this life on April 27, 2023, in Salem, Missouri at the age of seventy-five years. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving mother: Fae Hayman; twin sister: Donna Lanigan; uncle: Harold Shults; aunt: Donna Shults; as well as many cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.
Preceding him in death, his father: Albion Seth Hayman, brother-in-law: John Timothy Lanigan, and his grandparents: Elsworth and Zola (Summers) Shults and Seth and Allura (Lyon) Hayman.
Dennis will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered for his friendly spirit, generous heart, and devotion to his family.
