Steve Wayne Hedrick Sr. was born September 5, 1953, in Bixby, Missouri to Claude and Hester (Medley) Hedrick. He grew up and attended school in Bixby before moving to Gray Summit at a young age. Starting his career, he worked several years in St. Louis for an air conditioning company.
Steve met the love of his life, Linda Beers, and the two united into marriage on November 21, 1970. To this union they were blessed with two sons: Steve Jr. and Eric. In 1975, Steve moved his family to Belleview where they built a home and raised their family. Steve and Linda shared nearly fifty-five years of marriage, hard work, and family devotion before his passing.
Steve was a dedicated provider for his family, he spent many years working in the logging and timber industry, and later as a skilled skid steer driver at various sawmills. He also worked at the Charcoal plant in Bixby and Tony Abney Concrete before his retirement in 2013. Steve was a man who appreciated the outdoors. He found pleasure in deer and mushroom hunting in the National Forest around Boss, and cherished the quiet moments spent fishing at Herman Lake.
Steve's family meant the world to him. He was a proud husband, father, and even prouder grandfather and great-grandfather. Family vacations spent camping at Holiday Lake created cherished memories that will forever be held dear. His adventurous spirit also led him to enjoy riding his dune buggy.
Steve departed this life April 15, 2025, at his home in Belleview, Missouri. at the age of seventy-one years. Those left behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife: Linda Hedrick of Belleview, MO; sons: Steve Hedrick Jr. and wife Lisa of Belleview, MO, and Eric Hedrick and Leslie Britton of Viburnum, MO; sister: Glenda Hedrick and Everett Hedrick of Belleview, MO; sister-in-law: Shirley Hedrick; grandchildren: Stephanie, Tessa, Hunter, and Holden; great-grandchildren: Gunner, Hensley, Lucas, and Westyn; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents: Claude and Hester (Medley) Hedrick; siblings: Cletus Hedrick, Cleo Hedrick and wife June, Alta Parks and husband Curtis Ulen, and Dorma Lee Null and husband Virgil.
Steve leaves behind a legacy of love and hard work. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of the outdoors, and the unwavering love he shared with his family. He will be forever missed.
Funeral Services for Steve Wayne Hedrick Sr. were held Tuesday, April 22, 2025, in the Wilson Mortuary Viburnum Chapel with Pastor Bradley Asher and Pastor Adam Asher officiating. Song selections played were "Spirit In The Sky", Daddy's Hands", and "Love Without End". Serving as Pallbearers were Steve Hedrick Jr., Eric Hedrick, Stephanie Hedrick, Tessa Hedrick, Hunter Hedrick, and Holden Hedrick. Honorary Pallbearers were Gunner Henson, Hensley Henson, Lucas Henson, Westyn Hedrick, and Alexander Bierlein. Burial was in the Upper Indian Creek Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Viburnum, Missouri.
