OBITUARY
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dennis Lasowski of St. Cloud, FL and previously a 34 year resident of Wappingers Falls, NY on November 15, 2024 at the age of 73.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife Eileen of 50 years and his son Michael Lasowski. He is also survived by several cousins and nephews. Dennis was predeceased by his parents and sister. Dennis was born in the Bronx, NY and graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School. After graduating he proudly served in the US Army in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne where he reached the position of Sargeant. His achievements included a Combat Infantry badge, Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Silver Star for his bravery and dedication. Dennis served his community for a short time as a Police Officer in the Village of Wappingers Falls under the tutelage of Mark Liebermann. He then moved onto the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office as a Corrections Officer for 10 years. While there he held the position of the first Union president and was proud to represent his fellow officers. He later moved on to work Dutchess County as an accountant until his retirement in 2014. He served his community and volunteered his time for over 30 years with New Hackensack Fire Company and District holding several different positions. He also gave his time the Disabled American Veterans and other local organizations. In his retirement years he gave his time to the USO and to the Civil Air Patrol.
A funeral service with military honors will be held to honor his life at Fishkill Rural Cemetery in Fishkill on Saturday June 21 at 11am. There will be a luncheon reception following the service at the New Hackensack Fire Department on Myers Corners Rd. in Wappingers Falls.
