Dennis Michael McComb

Dennis M. McComb of Oxford died peacefully on January 11, 2024 following a six-year battle with Glioblastoma. He was 77. Born in Detroit on 24 July 1946, Dennis was the oldest son of Robert T. and Shirley I. (Touchette) McComb. Beloved husband and best friend of Yvonne (nee Herman) McComb; loving dad of Tracy (late Eric) Brandenburg, Tricia (John Maciejewski) McKinnon, Tina Michelle (Brian) Aubuchon; bonus dad of Stacy Moody and Colleen Brickner; Proud Opa of Dakota, Giovanni, Nick, Eric, Noah, Chase, Zane, Khalil, Salvatore, Nicole, Chelsea, Paige, Ryan, Amanda and Bailey; Great-Opa of Colton and Weston; dear brother of Terry (Debbie) McComb, Wendy (Mike) McComb, Carolyn (Rob) Driscoll, Candy McComb, the late Timmy McComb, late Bobby (Lois) McComb and several infant siblings. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and cousins.
After completing his military service and graduating with a teaching degree from Eastern Michigan University, he began his 18-year teaching and coaching career. He then began his career in education administration, ending as Superintendent of Schools in Milan and having the Performing Arts Center named in his honor.
After retirement, Dennis loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and traveling with his wife. He also enjoyed golfing with his buddies.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024 – 10:30 am with a 10am in-state at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 715 N. Lapeer Rd., Lake Orion. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 17, 2024 from 3pm to 8pm with a 7pm Scripture Service at Modetz Funeral Home, 100 E. Silverbell Rd., Orion. In lieu of flowers, suggested memorials appreciated to St. Vincent DePaul c/o St. Joseph Catholic Church. Future inurnment will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.
