Dennis Allen McMasters (Mac), age 76, passed away peacefully at Kaseman hospice IPU from natural causes on May 30, 2025, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Born on December 14, 1948, in Duncan, Oklahoma, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant before his honorable discharge on August 9, 1971.
Dennis was a skilled electrician, contributing his expertise to the civil engineering industry at Kirtland Air Force Base. He was known for his unwavering work ethic and dedication to his craft. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dennis enjoyed a vibrant personal life filled with hobbies and interests. He had a passion for riding motorcycles and was captivated by the art of magic, often thrilling family and friends with his tricks. Dennis held a strong desire to learn new activities, including the intricate skill of tying various kinds of knots and juggling.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Joan McMasters, and his two sons, David McMasters (Patricia) and Chuck (Amanda) McMasters. He cherished his role as a grandfather to his grandchildren, Stephanie (TJ) Smith, Leanne (Jeremiah) Nichols, Cameron (Ashleigh) McMasters, and God Son Kristofer (Madyson) Lue, and was particularly proud of his great-granddaughter, Palmer Malecki. He will be dearly missed by his sibling Larry (Connie) McMasters.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a graveside service at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 2:00 PM. Prior to the graveside service, a memorial service will be held at French’s Lomas Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd NE at 10:30 AM, with visitation starting at 10:00 AM and a private family viewing at 9:00 AM. Dennis’s legacy of love, dedication, and joy will continue to resonate with all who knew him. There will be celebration of life on Saturday 28 June 2025 from 11:00 to 2:00 at American Legion post 49, 11005 Central Ave NE.
The pallbearers are Paul Otero, David Romero, Eric Moore, Rick Miller, Nick Dalton, Jay Schwartz, Honorary pallbearers Troy Harris, Tom Byrd.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents Henry McMasters and Bonnie McMasters, and brothers Gary McMasters and Keith McMasters.
We want to thank Presbyterian Hospice staff (nurses, doctor, social worker, etc) for their care. We also want to thank Kaseman in patient unit for their care in Mac’s final days.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite veteran’s organization.
