Rochester – Dennis W. "Buckwheat" Perry, 77, passed away Tuesday April 1, 2025, peacefully at his home.
Born September 15, 1947, in York, ME, he was the son of the late Harry and Amanda (LaJoie) Perry.
Dennis attended St. Mary's Elementary School and graduated from Spaulding High School, class of 1965. He went on to study at the University of New Hampshire and Kansas State University.
Dennis worked as a recruiter for Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity for over 40 years, making a positive impact on thousands of individuals. His work with the fraternity kept him on the road much of the year but he always managed to come back to the family farm every summer to spend time with his family and pursue his hobbies of gardening and barbecuing. An avid storyteller, Dennis enjoyed entertaining family, friends, and fraters with colorful tales of his travels and life on the road.
Members of his family include his two siblings Vicky Stone and husband Oscar of Berwick, ME; and Mark Perry and wife Rebecca of Rochester, NH; his nephew Mark Perry of Rochester, NH; and two nieces Sarah Lobdell of Strafford, NH; and Fairlight Dearborn of
Dover, NH.
Family and friends may gather for visitation on Wednesday April 9, 2025, from 4 PM – 7 PM at the R. M. Edgerly and Son Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St., Rochester, NH. A graveside service will be held at a later date. To honor the legacy of "Uncle Buck," memorial donations can be made to the Tau Kappa Epsilon Foundation.

You were a mountain of a man, stature, strength, heart. Heart. Heart...you taught me humility, I wish I had a chance to see you again and thank you personally. I'm proud to have stood by your side and worked with you, better men for a better world. I'll see you in the Chapter Eternal when I get there. I am saddened to hear of the passing of Dennis. I went to St. Mary´s grammar school and Spaulding High, Class of 1965 with Dennis. After high school I worked with him at Dan´s Star Market for a couple years until he found his niche at working for college fraternities. He was very entertaining and loved people. I have fond memories of Dennis and his love for life. My condolences to his family.
