Mr. Dennis Hatten Risinger, age 78, sadly passed away on Sunday July 27, 2025.
Born in Charleston, SC on November 6, 1946, Dennis was the second of two sons born to James David Risinger and Orena Clark Risinger, who have since predeceased him.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 33 years, June Risinger; son Adam Risinger; daughter Rachel (Andrew) and baby granddaughter, Amara. Also surviving are his brother James (Faye) Risinger; nephew Caleb (Kristy) and their children; and niece Audrey (Eric) and their children.
Dennis was a United States Navy Veteran who served in Vietnam on the USS Ticonderoga. Later he worked for UPS in New Jersey where he met his wife. After moving back to South Carolina in 2000, he worked for the Augusta Chronicle and the Aiken Standard.
Dennis was an accomplished pianist of classical music and an avid reader of all kinds of topics, primarily Christian Literature and History.
He will be greatly missed.
A graveside service with Navy Funeral Honors rendered will be held on Tuesday August 5, 2025 at 2pm at Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, SC with Rev. Alvin Padgett officiating. Interment to follow.
