Dennis Smith Obituary
He was born on December 21,1942 in Monroe County Indiana. He graduated from Stinesville High School in 1960. After high school, Dennis proudly served in the United States Navy. He loved baseball and deer hunting and was a big fan of IU sports. He was a long time member of Ellettsville First Assembly. He worked for Indiana University in the warehouse for 34 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents Paul and Verna (Nicholson) Smith and his eldest daughter Jennifer Smith.
Dennis is survived by his wife of over 58 years Marilyn Smith; sons, Scott (Susan) Smith, Doug (Erin) Smith; daughter, Amy (Carter) Longardner; grandchildren, Emili Longardner, Matthew Smith, Josh Longardner, Elizabeth Smith, Dylan Smith and Nolan Smith and his brother Gary Smith and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service for Dennis will be held on Friday, January 16, at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville starting at 11:00 am. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of services at the funeral home. Following the service, the family invites you to join them for light snacks and fellowship in the funeral home lounge.

Dennis was the best father-in-law a person could ask for. I remember when I was dating his son in high-school, I had gotten sick at school. I couldn't make it home so, Dennis let me stay at their place with him until my mom got off work to pick me. He was also sick that day and stayed home. Despite being sick we had a nice sick day together watching TV. He was always such a sweetheart. RIP Dennis.
