Dennis P. Sutherland

Dennis P. Sutherland, 72, of Stafford Springs, formerly of Ellington, loving husband of the late Davida (Stavnezer) Sutherland, passed away after a brief illness, on Friday, September 26, 2025. Dennis was born on January 27, 1953, in Houlton, Maine, one of eight sons of the late Averill and Jean (Ewings) Sutherland.
He was a meatcutter for many years at the former Copaco's Meat Market in Bloomfield and more recently was employed as a transportation manager for Poultry Products in East Windsor. Along with spending time with his family, Dennis enjoyed hunting, camping with family and friends and ten pin bowling. He was an avid fresh and saltwater fisherman and had several little fishing hotspots across the state.
Dennis leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter and son-in-law Robin and Michael Devanney of Tolland, his three grandchildren, Christian Bell of Enfield, Krystal Bell of Enfield and Alyssa Bell of Enfield. Other family includes his three brothers, Terrance Sutherland of Manchester, Carter Sutherland and his wife, Sue Papapietro of South Windsor and William Sutherland and his wife, Laurie of Windsor Locks, numerous nieces, nephews, their families and many good friends. In addition to his wife and parents, Dennis was predeceased by his daughter, Linda Sutherland, and his four brothers, Michael, Timothy, Ronald, and Lewis.
All are welcome to join the family at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road, Vernon, CT 06066 for calling hours on Friday, October 3, 2025, from 5-7 pm. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 10:00 am. Inurnment will follow in Ellington Center Cemetery. At the family's request, please come as you are.
