Dennis D. Weinkauf, age 82, of Fargo, ND, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024 in Fargo VA Medical Center. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024 from 1:00 - 2:00 PM, followed by his 2:00 PM memorial service at Riverview Chapel in Fargo, ND. Interment will be held in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo. In lieu of memorials, please make a donation to the Associates of the Union of the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo.
Dennis Darrell Weinkauf was born on August 18, 1942, to Darrell and Delores (Wehner) Weinkauf in Breckenridge, MN. He was raised on the family farm near Fairmount, ND, until his family moved to Fargo in 1956. He attended Agaissiz Jr High and then to Fargo Central High School graduating in 1960. In 1964, Dennis drafted into the United States Army serving at the Yakima Firing Center in Washington. Dennis was honorably discharged in 1966.
After 20-plus years of employment with Altru Health System in Grand Forks, ND, Dennis retired in 2004. He was the supervisor of the department of audiology and hearing. Dennis was a member of the American Legion for 57 years, a lifelong member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, and an associate of the Union of the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Darrell and Delores Weinkauf; sister, Sherrill; special aunt, Lucille Propp; and companion and friend, Patricia Lanes.
He will forever be missed by his aunt, Elvonne Erdahl; cousins, Lemoyne (Sharen) Propp, Joan (Michael) Pardy, Carol (Tim) Jahner; his friends at River Square and Riverview Place in Fargo; and all his friends in Grand Forks.
